Finnish Nature Day in Loppula

Welcome to celebrate Finnish Nature Day to the preserved forest in Sanginjoki which has become important to the people of Oulu. During the day, Loppula nature house will offer versatile and free activities in nature for people of all ages. There will be tours with different topics to the surrounding nature, horse carriage rides, music performances, a singsong, yard games, face painting, and chance to sit by the fire. Come enjoy a leisured day outdoors in the heart of forest and rural nature with chance to learn new things, and to meet new people. At the end of the day, you can sleep outside at Loppula with your own equipment as a part of Sleep Outdoors day. The event is being funded by city of Oulu and Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.
The event has a free bus transportation from the city. Two busses drive people to the event. Reserve your place on the bus via email: pohjois-pohjanmaa@sll.fi. Let us know which bus stop you are getting on.
Bus route: Linnanmaa chapel (at 10.50) – Rajakylä mall, Tervakukkatie 2 (11.00) – Meri-Toppila E (11.10) – Tuira, Merikoskenkatu E1 bus stop (11.15) – In the center, Franzen stop, Kajaaninkatu 8 (11.20) – Raksila E (11.25) – OYS E (11.30) – Myllyoja E (11.35) – Loppula (11.55). Returning bu leaves Loppula at 17.00.

At 18 till Sunday 31.8. Nuku yö ulkona/Sleep Outdoors event in the proximity of Loppula. More information about the Sleep Outdoors event here.
The tent sauna will heat up from 7 pm. Bring your own swimsuits and towel! Free sauna, outdoor shower area.
Evening snack is available with advance reservations by the campfire from 7 pm for 10e/person (incl. non-alcoholic sauna drink, stuffed bread, hot drink and chocolate banana made by the campfire). The program includes a nice get-together, sitting by the fire and maybe a couple of small program numbers. You can also eat your own snacks in the yard area and the outdoor toilets are in use all night. In the morning, breakfast is available in the café for those with advance reservations from 8-10 am for 12e/person. (Incl. coffee/tea, porridge and bread with toppings, smoothie and small dessert)

The cafe opens at am 11.00 on Sunday.
Forest tour for children and like minded: The tour starts from Loppula yard and we take a short, approximately 300 meter walk through the meadow and forest, getting to know the species of late summer and the wonders of autumn nature. Guides: Veera Mursu and Suvi Kangaspuoskari.
Utility and recreation from forest -trip: During this bilingual trip you will learn what is a natural forest, how to utilize its yield, what health benefist nature provides, and what are ”Everybody’s rights”. Weather-appropriate clothing and shoes (rainboots recomended). The trip consist of 2 km walk on the paths and in the forest. Duration: 1,5 hours. Guide: Kalle Hellström.
Forest lie-down trip: A small lie-down, you can bring your own pillow. Let’s relax together in the arms of the forest. The trip is for limited number of participants, reserve a spot at Loppula. Weather-appropriate and relaxed clothing, we will lie in the forest 20 minutes. The trip organizer will provide water proof underlay. Guide: Senni Lappalainen.
Cosy marketplace at 12 – 17
Loppulan ystävät: Juha Vuorio’s honey, baked goods, Kitka river -books, golden eagle -pins, nature themed coloring books, silk neckties, and apples.
Lahja Pirttikoski: Dried funnel chanterelle, dye mushrooms, mushroom dyed yarn and knitted garments.
Juuttiputiikki: Fairtrade coffee, tea, chocolate, and hand crafts that enable livelihoods for vulnerable groups of people around the world. Also on sale historiography of Juuttiputiikki. Some of the products are organic.
Yrttiaika: “Hand-grown and harvested herbs are the essence of everything for us.” Spices, sauces, tea, green powders, natural cosmetics, camping products, and animal products. Some products have an organic label.
MaRou: Produces various consumer and interior design products mainly from natural and recycled materials. The range includes felt slippers and hats, rag rugs, accessories, and sauna and kitchen products. All products are handmade in Lapland from start to finish, with passion and love for the user.
