Finnish Association for Nature Conservation Oulu Local Association
Our local association in Oulu operates under the national Finnish Association for Nature Conservation and the regional Finnish Association for Nature Conservation of Norther Ostrobothnia.
Our association was established in 1976 and we have over 840 members. Are you one of them already?
Our goals:
- Influence the implementation of sustainable development principles in our area, for example in agriculture and forestry, energy production, transport, and waste production and processing.
- Enhance knowledge and appreciation of nature and promote nature hobbies.
- Promote the well-being and diversity of nature in forests, swamps, waterways and cultural areas.
Together we can work for wellbeing of nature! Welcome to join the action!
Urban nature is within reach of Oulu residents every day and in all seasons. Contact with nature creates an important part of our identity as residents of Oulu.
In our rapidly growing city, the built environment is taking over natural environment piece by piece. The state of the environment is constantly threatened by human activity. When nature is in poor health, our own well-being is also threatened.
The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation Oulu local Association is works for healthy environment and nature in Oulu. Our association has over 840 members and our separate Excursion Club has almost 600 members.
Our activities are diverse. We influence the city planning, go on nature trips, and organize courses and public events. We inform the people of Oulu about nature and environmental protection. We comment on the planning of the management and use of green areas and forests, we take initiatives and issue statements. We discuss and negotiate with officials and decision-makers about environmental problems. We monitor and observe the state of the living environment.
The diverse nature of our city, forests, seashores, swamps, rivers, lakes, park forests and many other natural environments in Oulu are certainly worth exploring and taking care of. Come and enjoy nature with us. Join us in diverse activities for a better future, for the benefit of nature and the environment.
